In regards to the 2A, gov’t has never defined the term “infringement.”
I would suggest that Chief Brackney lead by example, and refuse to carry any guns herself. And that goes for her staff as well. No guns while on duty. No guns while off duty.

Ask an equal number of chiefs of police and Sheriffs about the second amendment and see where the truth resides. Sheriff is a county elected position, chief of police is a municipal appointment/hire. Sheriff (in most cases) takes an oath that includes the Constitution of the United States. Chief of police may include it, but the types of folk being hired can be counted on as political animals (not that Sheriff is not).
This Charlottesville CP is a phd and in a college town. That kinda seals the deal on being a leftwing operative. Would be interesting to see what the Sheriff over that jurisdiction had to say.
