What do think the reaction would be if a class of people engaging in a consensual religious practice - lets say the Lord's supper - was shown to be responsible for 82% of new HIV cases aged 13 and older among men (despite only representing approximately 4% of the male population ), and (historically) a greatly increased incidence of other infectious diseases and premature death , and despite decades of attempting to tame it into being "safe"?

And the cost of that either raises private insurance rates or taxes. Then there is the increasing if slow problem excreted drugs in the water supply (though being from more than just gays).

Now if a Christian religious practice had these effects and costs (which some militant atheists almost treat it as having) then i do not think i need to tell you what the overall reaction would be.
