There’s nothing wrong with companies doing all they can to improve the accuracy of their products.

It was not a PR move, it was a research move.

Facial recognition programs have trouble with dark images.

Black people have dark skin.

In an effort to improve their algorithms they needed more data.

THAT’S ALL THERE IS TOO IT

(And I am NOT a fan)

What’s wrong with it? They got bashed for their poor results with black faces and so working to improve.

(And yes, they are an evil CIA front that should be shut down.)

One of the issues is not revealing what they were doing to these people and why.

You’re thinking of the 50s and I don’t blame you it was probably much nicer! :)

But this HAD TO blow up in their face. In 2019 anyone who works there and didn’t know that is a moron or a robot.

It would have been okay, except that the gift cards were for muffin stumps and flagged books.

Get PR people to decide the best way to go about it.

GOOGLE is part of the reason things are today and i hope this hurts them bad.

The problem is that they lied to the people about what they were doing.

They should’ve just explained that they needed more data and needed volunteers.

You are talking business sense.

CIA would rather give you LSD in secret and watch you trip in public.
