Romney threw his chance away on purpose. He allowed his opponent to win the presidency. He has positioned himself as always in the mix yet opposed to the actual leader.

I wonder about that sometimes. Why would someone go to all the trouble of running for president, just to “tank”, to use a sports term,, tank in the election campaign?

So his place in political history becomes that he lost to Obama as the highlight? Really, that’s what someone wants to be remembered for?

I think he really believed he had done enough to win. Just like Hillary - both of them thought they had it in the bag. In retrospect, it was easy to see how both fumbled away races they could have won but at the time - within their echo chambers - it was hard for them to understand what had happened.
