Earlier this week, the Chair of the British Parliament Science and Technology Committee, Sir Norman Lamb MP made calls for a full investigation into cholesterol lowering statin drugs. It was instigated after a letter was written to him signed by a number of eminent international doctors including the editor of the BMJ, the Past President of the Royal College of Physicians and the Director of the Centre of Evidence Based Medicine in Brazil wrote a letter calling for a full parliamentary inquiry into the controversial medication[1]. Its lead author Cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra makes the case for whys theres an urgent need for such an investigation in European Scientist.
A few weeks ago, an alarmed and confused patient in his late forties, who I shall call Mr Smith, came to see me for a consultation. Four years earlier he suffered a heart attack where severe blockages were found in his right coronary artery. These were opened up and kept open with metal stents.
He was prescribed atorvastatin, which is standard practice for heart attack patients regardless of cholesterol levels. Unfortunately, the atorvastatin caused severe muscle pains on exercise. Fortunately, his symptoms disappeared within a week of stopping the drug.

Statin would be a last resort personally. Also, floxacins only last resort
Three 3 day fasts in a month brought my cholestorol down almost 100 points!!!
and i didn’t even eat healthy in between!
i kept that weight off but couldn’t lose the next 4 months by just dieting and I NEED to lose a LOT
so on day 2 of another 3 day fast.
my triglycerides were normal for the first time in FOREVER
the test was in may
i’m sure by next year i’ll be back to my old self :)
will try not to be.
I DID take statins and they DID lower my CH.
But i’ve read they don’t lower the chances of heart attack all that much

Big Pharma is putting out a lot of Anti-Keto propaganda.
Statins darn near killed me. Ck out spacedoc.com for more info.
Is that what a 3 day fast is?
i haven’t felt as good in years as I did for the months following the 3 fasts.
And after 4 months, like I said, i had to face that dieting just doesn’t work for me. Cause i’ll pick.
Water, the right vitamins and supplements and 3 days, i’m back on.
I have at LEAST 50 pounds to lose and at 51, i don’t want to drop.
Had 200 to lose at one point.
Boy were those dark days
Statins nearly killed me as well...Of course all the docs said it was “rare” and put me on another one....repeat the process for 5 years until I QUIT.
My Cholesterol is Trigliceridges are all lower now. Only difference is I eat better and fast occasionally. You need to NOT EAT for at least 12 hours per day.
Also, get rid of the grain fed - go grass fed on beef, and get rid of the antibiotics in your food (by going grass fed beef and no antibiotic chicken). Eat BETTER quality rather than junk and chemicals.
Keto is a high-fat/very low carb/moderate protein diet.
I do daily Intermittent Fasting, which is fasting for at least 16 hours every day, which is basically an early dinner, no breakfast, and a late lunch, and I try to do OMAD (One Meal a Day), at least twice a week.
Supposedly doing that will get you the same results as doing a 3-day fast once every few weeks. I don’t think I’m quite ready to do that just yet.
The good thing about Keto and IF, is that you generally are not hungry at all during your fasting period. Combine that with working out in a fasted State, you can really beef up the benefits.
Been taking a statin for at least 10 years with good results and no side effects for me.
In addition to potentially irreversible muscle damage, most statins also increase the chance of pre-diabetes going into diabetes. The Japanese just came out with a statin that dont do that, but its really expensive and not available here.
I take avortastatin and have had no muscle problems. My cholesterol and triglycerides have dropped dramatically. I did change my diet to be mostly carbohydrate-free, exercise daily and lost 45 pounds. However, Im pre-diabetic and my blood sugar moved up 10-15 points.
Everything you say makes sense.
but you have self control
if eat one thing, i’ll Definitely eat more the rest of the day
i’m an all or nothing kind of guy. always have been
A man has to know what he is.
what your’e doing sound great. I’d crack after tasting food :)
I’ve TRIEd what you’re saying and THAT way AND the 3 day fasting, i was very hungry lol!!!
maybe i’m doing something wrong :)
will power gets me through
and fear of a stroke
Just imagine how many people have been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimers because statins striped away the fatty myelin sheath (the insulation) that surrounds the brain’s axon (wiring) which carries the signals where they’re supposed to go.
Pardon my asking...
1) I vaguely recall you had a major injury/rehab.
I apologize for the foot-in-mouth, but does this allow you or prevent you from certain exercises in particular?
2) Have you tried Vitamin D3 and K2 together?
3) Have you tried CoQ10? Statins deplete it.

I take one every day and every morning I wake up dead.
Your body can burn carbs or fats.
There are different enzymes used for each.
If you fast / go low-carb long enough, your body will switch to burning fat.
But you’ll becdreadfully tired while converting ...
Your suggestions are spot on, gw.
I have also read that when taking D3 and K2(MK-7), adding a bit of magnesium and vitamin E (natural, not synthetic) increases the absorption.
I’m not sure of the exact science behind it. I just read a bit of Dr. Mercola’s articles on this a while back, and began to add it to the regimen.
Who the @##$@# do you think you are?!?!!
How dare you!!??!?!
:)
That’s nice that you’re concerned.
Just wanted to give a NY answer first :)
MAJOR AWFUL injury lol
12 years ago head injury home a little over 5 years went from 235 to 435 at high 200s now
LAZINESS prevents me from doing certain exercises :)
i lift weights and do crunches and leg lifts but then i get lazy I HATE exercise bikes, jogging and treadmill
before injury it was the heavybag that burned my calories
afraid to join boxing gymn again even just to hit bag.
still nerve damage and don’t’ know how it would go over
might go fine i don’t know
i’m LOW on D3 so I DO take it but sloppily
K2 i’ve HEARD of and bought and it’s around here
again sloppy
i’ve TRIED CoQ10 but a while aago
when you have a brain injury that affects a million different things you hand about 5,000 dollars to supplement makers promising the next great thing.
i healed a LOT and WAY past the 2 year guideline docs give for recovering from a head injury
hell you GET WORSE the first two years as the radicals in your brain go crazy for SO LONG and they say even possibly for 20 years.
but I THANK GOD for the recovery i have made
hardest part is i wake up with seizures/tremors and nothing can control it
docs think injury messed up sleep/wake cycle.
that’s all they can tell me
ONLY happens upon waking
i would DIE to know what exactly is causing it
feels like my whole body is on a vibrating bed but it also causes severe muscles spasms in my head and upper body and starts the day off on the wrong foot
wow was that long :)
