Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has launched an ad on social media with a message that he will end the impeachment effort against President Donald Trump should the House pass Articles of Impeachment and send them to the upper chamber. “Nancy Pelosi is in the clutches of a leftwing mob,” McConnell said in a fundraising video on his re-election campaign Facebook page. “They finally convinced her to impeach the president.”
“All of you know your Constitution,” McConnell said. “The way that impeachment stops is with a Senate majority with me as majority leader.”
This comes after McConnell said he would have to at least initiate an impeachment trail in the Senate, as the Constitution requires.
“It’s a Senate rule related to impeachment, it would take 67 votes to change, so I would have no choice but to take it up,” McConnell said in a recent interview on CNBC. “How long you’re on it is a whole different matter.”
But in the fundraising ad posted late last week on his campaign Facebook page McConnell made it clear his goal for the impeachment effort in the Senate is to stop it in its tracks.
“McConnell is running for reelection next year and regularly plays up his ties to Trump, who easily carried Kentucky in 2016 and remains popular in the state,” AP said in its report on the ad. “McConnell campaign manager Kevin Golden said the impeachment inquiring has fired up the senator’s supporters.”

This impeachment inquiry isn’t real, from what I understand.
The House has not voted to hold an impeachment inquiry. Nancy said they were, but it has not been voted on.
It’s interesting to see, how Trump said they won’t cooperate with subpoenas because the House has not officially voted to do the impeachment inquiry.

so what’s the real story, i have read 2 things that seem to be at odds.
That nancy wants to ram impeachment through and finish it fast.
That she’ll never hold a vote for it.
If Senator Graham REALLY wants to do something NOW to help out Trump he would speed things up on the federal judge confirmation front. When Trump assumed office there were 86 vacant District Court judgeships. You know, the District Judgeships which sabotage President Trump when they’re occupied by an agenda-driven ‘RAT appointee. The number of vacancies has increased and there are now 97 vacant District Court judgeships.
There are 75 of Trump’s Judicial nominees pending confirmation in the Senate (of which 54 are pending in Lindsey Graham’s Judiciary Committee). This is INEXCUSABLE! Graham needs to no longer allow the DemocRATS to use the Blue Slip process to stop consideration of Trump’s nominees. And McConnell needs to schedule confirmation votes on nominees quicker after they’re out of the Judiciary Committee

If it reaches the Senate, it should be disposed of in under an hour. A simple majority vote that the house didn’t follow procedure so the Senate declines or something.
Let’s not forget McConnell’s role in preventing Obama’s U.S. Supreme Court Justice nominee to be appointed...thereby enabling Trump to appoint Gorsuch.
I would reply to this McConnell fundraiser that he’ll get the money when he actually ends impeachment with an acquittal and not before.

I’ve said this on many threads: McConnell may not be everything we might desire in an aggressive majority leader, but he’s the leader we’ve got, and we could have done a lot worse.
Considering the typical senator has an ego like the Goodyear blimp, I wouldn’t want his job.

Probably neither story is "real".
I expect that Pelosi will "deem the impeachment passed" without a House vote and will insist that it be taken up in the Senate. If McConnell has any sense at all, he will simply refuse. "Rules" be dammed. They are all fighting for their political careers and somebody is going to lose.
The Republican Party will cease to exist if there is an impeachment with conviction in the Senate. Even an impeachment with an acquittal is a high-risk proposition.
The Democrats are going to impeach, one way or another. If they win a conviction, the country is done. If they lose, they will regroup and try something else. But if Trump is re-elected, the Democrats are done. The only way this stops peacefully is with several hundred Democrats going to jail, and a purge of the Civil Service. I see this as a low-probability outcome.

Some Republicans, like Murkowski, Collins, and, of course, Romney, will probably vote to continue the trial.

The house was prevented from voting on the impeachment inquiry and so he can simply refuse to take it up.

Going to trial against ruthless, evil, take no prisoners people is very dangerous. Did things get better or worse for Kavanaugh as the investigation became more and more public? I believe it got worse and smeared him even more. One never knows what can happen in a trial. Democrats lie and lie and there does not seem to be any consequence for Democrats in this country any more. These things like impeachment and special prosecutors should be stopped at the outset and smashed like a bug. There must be a way to do it
The republic has been turned enough into a democracy that totalitarianism will be imposed all quite legally, desired by a majority of the zombie populace. Seems to be a repeated pattern.
