Two words. Identity Politics.
She’s portrayed as female, and she’s obviously black.
Ideas and everything else are secondary.
A pretty lousy reason to elect anyone. By that logic, I would always have to vote for a white, heterosexual, Christian man. I have voted a number of times outside my identity. I voted for Alan Keyes in the 2004 U.S. Senate race in Illinois. One of my proudest votes. It’s too bad more Illinoisans didn’t do the same.
