When we were in DC recently the Hispanic newspaper vending machines outnumbered the native tongue editions.

What does that tell ya?

There used to be several magazines for carpenters, builders etc that were published in both English and Spanish. I had lunch with one of the editors who told me that they discontinued the Spanish versions because the Hispanic company owners and managers preferred English and the Spanish speakers were for the most part illiterate.
