Gov. Newsom redirects gas tax money. It won’t fund highways, railway system (RECALL HIM!)

With a stroke of his pen, California Governor Gavin Newsom has redirected part of the money you pay at the pump with the state’s gas tax to the railway system and other projects.

Governor Newsom signed Executive Order N-19-19.

It calls for leveraging billion in annual state transportation funds to reduce green house gases and emissions.

The order directs money away from fixing local highways, stalling important projects here in the valley.

Valley Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R)-Fresno, is upset and wants Republicans and Democrats in the state to speak out.

Assemblyman Patterson says, “One of the very first things Governor Newsom decides to do, is put forward an executive order and his people at Caltrans have decided they are going to terminate addition north and south freeway lanes on Highway 99 in Tulare and Madera County. I’m almost speechless with response to this.”

According to the Caltrans report, the projects cost a total of 17-million dollars.

But that is not all.

The report also states some $61-million in uncommitted funds will be held in reserve for priority rail projects and other priorities aligned with Executive Order N-19-19.

Assemblyman Patterson says, “When you pay for gas and you pay a gas tax, a railroad is not a highway. This is bait and switch. This is saying one thing and doing something else. I just think all who represent California both Democrats and Republicans have better step up and stand up and say Mr. Governor you can’t do this.”

Typical bait and switch. They just raised the gas tax and promised to use that money to fix our horrible, congested roads. Instead they want to fund the environazi's delusions.

More reasons to sign the petition to recall him!

You can find the petition to download and print here.

https://recallnewsom.us/

It must be a hard copy and properly filled out. They will try to find every excuse to try to invalidate signatures.

Can a governor just redirect the budget at a whim?

Why even have a state legislative branch?

Young people should be banned from driving gas cars to support climate issues.

Have the people get mad and recall him.

Replace with a feckless RINO Republican.

Have the feckless RINO Republican do stuff that is EVEN WORSE than the backstabbing Liberal Democrat.

Repeat as necessary.

CA has “general fund” budgeting. Pretty much all income goes into the general fund and can be used for anything, no matter what politicians claim a tax’s revenues would be used for.

Tell the people you need to raise gas taxes to build and pay for the upkeep of roads.

Implement the increase.

Then spend it any way you want.

Typical.

Nothing reduces carbon output from transportation better than redirecting money to hundred billion dollar trains no one will ride, while leaving millions of cars stalled on freeways in traffic jams with their engines and air conditioners running uselessly ...

Possibly someone could consult the California judge who ruled that the President couldn’t redirect federal money to build a border wall. /s

So, what you’re saying is that in California, I can tax a business to help homelessness but turn around and use that same money to build a sports complex?

"... Governor Gavin Newsom has redirected part of the
money you pay at the pump with the state’s gas tax to the
railway system and other projects."

Let's put it another way: The money is being stolen
by Democrats and will end up in the pockets of
Democrat Party supporters (UNIONS, state and local
political "leaders", special Democrat Party "projects"
to help the environment or education or the homless etc.)
In other words the pockets Democrat Party bigwigs.

Or you can tax a sports complex and businesses nearby to “help homelessness” and spend it on trains to nowhere or welfare benefits for illegals.
