I did a story on this case a long time ago for a local paper, I did a lot of research on it. If I remember 5 witnesses saw “Mumia” aka Wesley Cook kill PO Faulkner including a taxi driver who saw the whole thing from start to finish all of whom testified. “Mumia” also never denied killing Faulkner who he shot in the face point blank. I think the conclusion I came to was “Mumia” was getting all this support from the left not because the left demanded a “fair trial” which “Mumia” got, but simply because of racism by these leftists and I see it’s still going on today.

I also remember a radio interview years ago, with a black man who was the head of an anti-death penalty organization. Someone asked him about Mumia's case, and the man very deftly responded and effectively said Mumia's case is NOT something he uses to argue against the death penalty. He basically said he thought Mumia did it, and people who hoist Mumia's cause up as a reason to abolish the death penalty are doing his man's abolition cause a disservice.

At the same time, an old talk show host in Philadelphia, the late Irv Homer (who was no liberal) often said he thought Mumia was innocent and in fact Mumia was his news guy in the 1970s. Go figya.
