Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday said he will send a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicating that Senate Republicans will not impeach President Trump over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying “she can stop now.”
Speaking to Fox News, Graham, who is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he will ask other Senate Republicans to sign a letter to Pelosi that said they “do not believe the transcript of the phone call between the president and Ukraine is an impeachable offense.”
“They’re about to destroy the nation for no good reason,” Graham said. “And I want Nancy Pelosi to know that Republican senators are not going to impeach this president based on this transcript, so she can stop now before she destroys the country.”

I am suspecting Pelosi is allowing all of this to proceed, hoping it will mean the Dems lose the House in 2020. That would also help the Dem leadership ‘sit’ on the new class Leftists/socialists.
Pelosi has probably concluded that, if the Dems retain the House, she is out as speaker anyway. Thus, she has no indigestion with the Pubbies retaking the House.
The major problem I have with Republicans is they tend to accept the premise of the leftist arguments. That is a 100% guaranteed recipe for disaster.
Sen Grassley of Iowa, made some statement last week about whistleblowers. He has a history of supporting whistleblower protections, and that’s a good thing.
EXCEPT, we aren’t talking about a legitimate or authentic case of whistleblowing! Of all people, he should have been the one shouting from the rafters of the Capitol to all who would listen, that this is pure unadulterated BS and an abuse of the system. Democrats are masters of the faulty, bogus premise and Republicans should never accept their lies at face value. He may be playing Eleventy dimensional chess and have a plan here, but I don’t know. He can be pretty crafty, but I don’t like these guys playing this close to the line. The Kavanaugh fecal festival, I didn’t think it could get any worse than that. Bottom line, the leftists don’t argue from a position of integrity or fair play or willingness to compromise or anything of the sort. Republicans try to be polite, while the Democrats engage in street fighting with switchblades.
Whistleblower protections are extended to prevent supervisor retaliation, or being passed over for promotion, things like that.
In this instance, or any other it does not preclude criminal prosecution for misdeeds or malfeasance, failure to safeguard sensitive information, etc. The Democrafs are trying to use this phony bolaogna plastic banana whistleblower operation as a “get out of jail free” card or human shield.
Some commentators aren’t even convinced this person actually exists, it’s just a figment of Shifty Schiff’s fevered imagination.

Great move by Graham. He has made it public that nothing will come of this. If they continue it appears to the voters as just a waste of time because it’s not going any further.
They need to publish a “round robin” letter with 34 signatures stating that they will vote “not guilty” regardless of any evidence presented. Governor Huey Long’s supporters in the Louisiana Senate did this when he was impeached in 1929 and it shut down the impeachment immediately.
I don’t think you could find 34 GOP Senators that would sign such a letter.
They want to appear thoughtful and deliberate.

It's fine to support of warmonger graham, just don't trash citizens who have been there that don't believe graham's proposal for a permanent American force in the mid east is in the best USA interest.

I think Nancy Pelosi got played by Adam Schiff. First, he engineered this “whistleblower” account of President Trump’s phone call with the President of the Ukraine. Once that was in place, I think he told Pelosi that the details of the conversation would be “devastating” if they were ever made public. Pelosi, taking Schiff at his word, jumped the gun and immediately announced the impeachment inquiry. She thought President Trump would resist all efforts to release the transcript of the call, allowing the Democrats to claim there was a cover-up. She figured he would eventually be forced to release the “devastating” transcript, at which point they would have all of the evidence they needed for impeachment. As usual, President Trump out maneuvered them by releasing the transcript immediately. Once she saw the actual transcript, she knew she had been had, and the Democrats had nothing. I suspect she’s now looking for a way out of this “impeachment inquiry” without looking like a total fool.

They’re not going to stop. They don’t believe we hve the right to choose our own leaders. They get to do that.

I always think people who call others “Never Trumpers” are probably Dem trolls trying to stifle voices of support for Trump. There are a lot of Dem trolls on here, I suspect, especially those who attack other Freepers.
