Back in Democrat-controlled Senate was gearing up to pass a bipartisan Senate bill to authorize the U.S. military action in Syria — which had already been ongoing for more than two years at that point.
The measure went nowhere because polls were showing that 70% of Americans opposed the Syria campaign.
