TRUMP is making good on his promise to cut billions from UN funding and the UN is squealing like a stuck pig OCTOBER 10, 2019 BY BARENAKEDISLAM
Now the UN Secretary General is begging for money. Perhaps he should hit up all the other United Nations member states that regularly fall short on their required annual financial contributions, figuring that the United States will be there to take up the slack.
Breitbart The United Nations is running a deficit of $230 million, Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned on Monday, and may run out of money by the end of October unless world governments immediately meet their financial obligations.
The United States is by far the U.N.s biggest financial contributor, providing 22 percent of its operating budget and funding 28 percent of peacekeeping missions, which currently cost $8 billion annually.
In a letter intended for the 37,000 employees at the U.N. secretariat and obtained by AFP, Guterres said unspecified, additional stop-gap measures would have to be taken to ensure salaries and entitilements are met.
These might include holding fewer (unnecessary) meetings and cutting back on (unnecessary) travel and associated entitlements.
Member States have paid only 70 per cent of the total amount needed for our regular budget operations in 2019. This translates into a cash shortage of $230 million at the end of September. We run the risk of depleting our backup liquidity reserves by the end of the month, he wrote.
Donald Trump has long pushed for reform of the U.N. and just last week warned the future does not belong to globalists in a warning to the organizations leaders.
In December 2017 Nikki Haley, the then United States Ambassador to the organization, announced the federal government had reduced its contribution to the U.N.s annual budget by $285 million, as Breitbart News reported.
Haleys statement came after the U.N. voted to condemn the United States for President Donald Trumps decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The resolution, backed by nations with long records of extreme human rights abuses, passed 128-9. Haley immediately responded by threatening to reduce Americas U.N. funding.
We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the worlds largest contribution to the United Nations and we will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit.
Saw the building in person....across the street.
Was fairly underwelming. Would make a nice park without the building.
Turn it into senior housing.
Only after its been swabbed out with chlorine bleach and isopropyl alcohol...
A $10,000. private jet take-off and landing tax, at the Davos airport, should just about take care of it.
Let the globalists fund their own party.
Of course. Nothing to talk about there.
Perfect!
I don't think the New York City Hotel & Street prostitutes, and cabbies would agree with you. I mean that's a lot of undisclosed money & TAXES we're talking about. /s
“the 37,000 employees at the U.N. secretariat”
I wonder how many relatives and friends are on the payroll that never show up to work there are.
I’m 66, first road sign I can remember was, “Get US out of UN.”
Not a new concept.
Member nations have already paid 70 percent... thus one could calculate that with nearly 90 days of 365 that the UN isn’t too far from getting all its annual dues by 31 December. The problem is the UN is spending too much prior to getting the money pledged.
Wish we had a thumbs up, great post.
Nah. Make it a homeless shelter.
Turning the UN into a version of “The Breakfast Club”....bunch of truant nations with one thing in common - their hatred of America...and finding out in long-term detention.
Wonder if the UN’s had its mitts in Spygate...
Better class of resident.
Thank you :)
