Yeh, the entire Mormon thing is puzzling to me. I live in a small town in Idaho with at least 50% Mormon population, and the pretty devout kind, and they are fine people.
But I do not understand them politically. As you mention, they tend to be self-reliant and hard workers, yet they manage to produce leftist cretons like Harry Reid, Romney and more and more, Mike Lee.
