Bingo. Yes, women still want to marry up. This becomes progressively more difficult the higher a woman climbs on the degree/career/income pyramid. It's basic math. Numbers dwindle with each step up. And to top it off, since men will marry laterally and down, most of the good guys will already be married by their early 30's. If a woman spends her young and attractive years prioritizing career (and sleeping around on the side), she is painting herself into a corner. The thing is, smart young women, at some level, KNOW this. But feminist indoctrination encourages them to live in denial and then to become bitter and angry when they reap what they sow.

The solution? Marry earlier. Approach marriage as a partnership to build a life and family, not as a trophy to mark achievement of another status goal.

Powerful men can marry their secretary and no one blinks an eye. It doesn't work the other way around only because women care so much about society's opinion. Women just have to readjust their thinking and look for a good man, not the prototype perfect man, and stop worrying about what others think.

I remember reading a post by a young lawyer who was bored to death by corporate practice, even though it paid very well. He went back and got his masters in psychology and most of his clients were women partners in law firms. They had come out of law school and put their noses to the grind to make money and make partner after 7-10 years, figuring they could put their social lives on hold until they were fully settled, and then with their positions of success and income, could marry whom they chose among the young male lawyers. They didn’t realize that at 33-35 the young guys in similar positions want to date the 22 year old legal assistants not a partner of their rank and income and they wouldn’t dare date a plumber, farmer or carpenter. So they are bitter, angry and often latch on and live vicariously through an 18 or 22 year old niece who has graduated from college and has no money whom they will take on expensive trips and “live through” their fun experiences. Its a poor substitute.
