It was no big deal for our swim team to practice at 6 AM when we were in high school. Woke up before any other students did, drive to school and practice for an hour then shower/dress and we were already good for class to start.

Incidentally, our swim team had the highest grades in the school. And for two years running our school had the highest SAT scores in the state. We won state championship too.

In 1972 our sophomore basketball team had practice at 7:00 AM. The gym was cold and the basketballs felt like rocks but it didn’t kill us.
