Last November, Democrats hailed California voters' rejection of Proposition 6, a law to scrap the state's 2017 massive gas taxes. They crowed that Californians were glad to pay five bucks at the pump when the rest of the U.S. average was half that. Big reason? Because $3 billion of those takings would save the state's tumbledown highways and go to repair roads and bridges. The rejection came after a voters showed strong signs of wanting to get rid of the tax until a barrage of television ads ran, warning that any vote to repeal the gas tax would mean the state's decrepit highways and bridges would go wanting for repair funds:
A vote to repeal the gas tax would leave our highways wastelands! Highway apocalypse if this gas-tax repeal went through! Saving the whales became saving the highways, and as shriller and shriller ads ran, voter sentiment shifted, and the tax was voted to remain.

Welp. Turns out the tax wasn't about repairing roads and highways after all. On Sept. 20, in a little noted maneuver, Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order to divert the tax cash away from crumbling highway repair to greenie political pet projects instead. To heck with the highways; it was time to save the Earth. According to an Oct. 7 item from the California Globe:
Governor Newsom signed Executive Order N-19-19 September 20, directing the already controversial gas tax money away from fixing local highways in favor of rail projects.

I am shocked that politicians lied.
And Newsome is chuckling: “Those dumb voters actually thought I’d use the money to fix the roads instead of for the high speed rail my buddies are “building” for me.
Californians are dumb. They deserve the government and the taxes they voted for.
Elections have consequences.
Venezufornia.
Their future.
And our entertainment.
They’ll be praying for the “big one”.
I am amazed at the stupidity of voting FOR more taxes at any level. Just ignorant.

It’s not just California. It’s been going on all over for years. Politicians sell a tax as paying for roads or repairs and once approved siphon off big bucks for their pet projects.
I didn’t think any governor of California could be worse than Moonbeam Brown, but Newsome has proved me WRONG. He makes Moonbeam look almost SANE.
Hi-Desert Fwy from Victorville to Palmdale, cancelled last week by Gov Nuisance, after 18 months of planning.
Extra lanes on Hwy 99 south of Fresno, cancelled last week by Gov Nuisance.
50 billion taken from the road fund last week by Gov Nuisance for “other purposes” including the high speed (now mid-speed) rail.
It’s not even going to HSR.
It’s going to house, feed and medicate illegals.

Ah, yes. He must feed the illegals that he is permitting to be appointed to state and local government offices to oversea those foolish American citizen taxpayers who are giving them their free stuff. And what will Newsome do when he runs out of taxpayer money? Hopefully the recall effort will be successful before that happens.
Sheet...the whole country is dumb.
