Senate Dem to offer bill making threats, attacks against news media a federal crime
The Hill ^ | 10/15/19 | Tal Axelrod

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said Tuesday he plans to introduce legislation that would make threats and attacks against news organizations a federal crime.

“What we have to address is the continuing threat of physical violence, whether by guns or other means, against the press that may intimidate them in their vital newsgathering operation,” Blumenthal said at a press conference.

“It is a priority for me to protect newsgathering operations no matter what their form and the act that we’re proposing would in fact establish a federal crime when someone threatens or attacks anyone doing f act-gathering or news operations. That is the purpose of this bill.”

No one spoke out about the film industry including the violent, wholesale mass slaughter scene found in The Kingsmen.

Isn’t making threats of violence against ANYBODY already a crime?

I thought threats and attacks were already illegal. The only reason I can see for the FedGov getting involved in this is for situations where a guy living in Seattle threatens a news organization based in some other state. Other than that, it’s a simple state issue.

Blumenthal can give combat lessons from his time in Nam.

There are laws already offering all Americans these protections. The Democratic Party is trying to insulate the multinational corporate media the ability to pursue lawfare against American citizens.

Why don’t we make it a crime to illegally spy on journalists like the Obama administration repeatedly did as well as hacking their computers and installing malware as was done to Sheryl Attkinsson?

I guess not. Orange Man Bad!

If they make it a specific federal crime, then the feds get another swing at the perp should the state muff it. Recall the charges against the Los Angeles policemen where, when the state proceedings didn’t pan out as they wanted, the feds pursued them on federal crimes.

Another example of the RATS “protecting” the powerful from scrutiny. We’re over the target and “General” Blumenthal, the illustrious Vietnam war hero, is trying to protect his troops in the MSM!

How about having the NSA release their slimy Blumenthal files.

So.. In order to make these pundits a protected class..

Does that mean we would be able to Issue/ grant/ qualify and or revoke a “jounalist license”?

With all sort of associated fees/ taxes/ certifications/ on-going education, etc?

Of course, attacking Brietbart will be AOK because they aren’t a legitimate “news gathering” organization.

“There are laws already offering all Americans these protections.”

Precisely. If I were a Republican in Congress or the Senate, in consideration of the lies told by Blumenthal, I would sponsor a bill that makes lying about military service and/or deployments punishable by a minimum of 5 years in prison without parole.
