We fought a war with Mexico many decades ago.
I forgot what it was named (someone want to help me out with this?), but it was a major war.
We won.
Instead of taking the spoils of war (in other words, taking over Mexico) we met in Mexico City and let Mexico keep Mexico.
Big mistake.
