I don't use it until there are 20 or more of the rascal roaming all over my place, just stripping it down.
If there are only about a dozen or less, I keep the population under control with the 22 and #12 shot.
BTW, I just tried a 'home made' choke this morning and it worked at 40'.
Worked means that the critter is dead with the first shot.
I filed the front sight off of the rifle, and slipped a 3' piece of aluminum pipe over the end of the barrel, and used Gorilla Tape to secure it in place.
I'm going to experiment with shorter lengths of the choke and see what works the best, but I know that the 'choke approach' does work. Three extra feet makes the gun awkward and makes it hard to store, so like President Trump says, "We'll see what happens".
