Judge Myron H. Thompson found that the definitions of "hate group" vary so widely that the slam is protected by the First Amendment, even if it causes harm. The ruling came in a case brought by D. James Kennedy Ministries, against SPLC [Southern Poverty Law Canter], which routinely labels anyone who disagrees with its pro-transgender, pro-homosexual, pro-abortion agenda as a hater or "hate group." In fact, the ministry, which is appealing the ruling, had been prevented from participating in an online donation program because of the label.

How is this not a racist ruling?
1. How did the SPLC get to be the arbiter of what is a “hate group”?
2. Even if the SPLC is correct in its opinions, isn’t so-called “hate speech” or being a so-called “hate group” protected by the First Amendment as long as no violence is involved? It isn’t there to protect what is popular.
Why file against the crazies when you should file against the people that act on what the crazies say.

Nonsense. Of course they have a 1st Amendment right to say whatever they want, but the 1st Amendment doesn’t protect anyone from civil liability for what they say.

Must’ve been a lingering case. I doubt he’d have been assigned this case now, with the current makeup of ALMD.
There are 103 ACTUAL federal judicial VACANCIES along with 18 “near term” FUTURE VACANCIES (many of which are TBD awaiting confirmation of their replacements). If Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell would get more of these nominees confirmed as ACTIVE federal judges then fewer cases such as this would be assigned to “Senior” Leftist judges such as this Carter judge.
