I hope this bill passes. Prohibition doesn't work, and only enriches the cartels.

We’ll become Mexico soon enough when it passes.
Keep dreaming if you think this measure will enhance society.

I agree with you. It will affect their kids the most. Weed is a dropout drug; and kids have a tendency to not accept the responsibility of growing up or working hard to get ahead. Weed is just the ticket to put them on a lifelong detour into the world of irrelevance.

Is it even necessary for them to legalize it? Do laws even matter in Mexico anymore?

I honestly thought it already was legal in Mexico.

I am actually sort of shocked.

Just grow your own,
nobody is going to care
if one has a few pot plants in their back room,
or so I hear...

To be honest, I honestly have come over to the Pro-Legalization side of the equation on pot. Yes, people can get addicted to it. I know, in fact, of a woman who is extremely addicted to it, and she seems to use it as a way to control her bad moods (I even tell her, when she starts acting like crazy women do, “hey, go take a damn puff or something.”)

Bizarrely, huge numbers of students at the law school I went to were pot heads, as were the ones at the neighboring law school (all here in Houston).

But the bottom line here is that an addicted pot user is better than an alcoholic, and we do not criminalize alcohol.

It just seems to me, despite the fact it is an obvious vice and I would not permit it on moral grounds, it has become so normalized that we might as well not even have the laws on the books.

It should be legalized, and governments should also be barred from taxing it all to hell, as the end result seems to be that the pot smokers just go back to the black market and buy their pot that way.

As if they didn’t already smoke the stuff. This is just an end to filling up their prisons...except no one ever got arrested...and a lotta policia got rich.

Keep dreaming if you think this measure will enhance society.

Did your history class skip over that chapter about the 18th Amendment to the US Constitution? It was repealed because it didn't work. Still doesn't.

That’s your argument?
Weak....

Perhaps you believe MS-13 and every meth-head, pothead, and useless junkie really contributes to society?
Healthcare costs?
Insurance costs?
Criminal costs?

Maybe you use drugs too? Hence your applause.
You belong in CA or Mexico.

Great analysis, but I disagree with the idea that pot is physically addictive.

As a former heavy user, I can tell you it’s not.

When I decided it was time to put it down, I was done. It took nothing more than making a choice. I was eighteen years old on that day.
