Former national security adviser John Bolton will not appear voluntarily to testify in connection with the House impeachment inquiry into President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
Bolton’s attorney Chuck Cooper told The Hill in an email late Wednesday that Bolton would not appear voluntarily and would need to be subpoenaed.
House Democrats have issued subpoenas to several witnesses in order to compel their testimony amid efforts by the White House to prevent their appearance. The White House has refused to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry, describing it as illegitimate and an attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 presidential election.
House investigators on Wednesday invited Bolton, who was dramatically ousted as Trump’s third national security adviser in September, to testify at a deposition on Nov. 7, next week.
It is not clear whether a subpoena will be enough to compel his appearance. Charles Kupperman, former deputy national security adviser, filed a lawsuit on Friday asking a federal court to weigh in on whether he should obey a subpoena to testify or instructions from the White House against cooperating, describing himself as caught between two competing branches of government.

This seems like good news, but something about the guy is off putting, not sure what it is. Anyway, hopefully he doesn’t help the coup plotters in any way at all.

IIRC, Bolton & Fiona Hill shut down Vindman(? _someone_)when they objected to the 2nd call to Ukraine. (& maybe leaked?) Too rushed to go check right now.
IMO, Bolton is just a hawk, regardless of politics. (If war can exist sans politics).
Bolton is not a crazy lefty and will not commit suicide to try to hurt Trump

My guess is Bolton and others living around the edge of the swamp, or in it, are seeing the impeachment circus going sour and would like to distance themselves from the fiasco. Even some house dems are showing a dislike of the whole, smelly affair and are looking to back away.

You sure about that? The Swamp will reward him handsomely if Trump goes down, or is mortally wounded for 2020. Maybe they’ll toss him another war or two.
His subpoena can be taken to the courts, which will be nullified.
The Trump Administration has been waiting for a chance to try this, as the House has no official impeachment occurring to legitimize the subpoena.
I don’t think Bolton has been “turned”. In fact, I think he is going to launch into that kangaroo court with both barrels blazing. They will probably dismiss him after his secret opening statement, then they will burn it so that nobody else will see it.
