RealClearInvestigations has researched and named the man believed to be the probable whistleblower based on sources and description.
If the reporting is correct, it implies the “whistleblower” could have been worried Trump was getting close to uncovering Democrat links to Ukraine’s interference in US elections in 2016.
RealClearInvestigations is disclosing the name because of the public’s interest in learning details of an effort to remove a sitting president from office. Further, the official’s status as a “whistleblower” is complicated by his being a hearsay reporter of accusations against the president, one who has “some indicia of an arguable political bias … in favor of a rival political candidate” — as the Intelligence Community Inspector General phrased it circumspectly in originally fielding his complaint. More than two months after the official filed his complaint, pretty much all that’s known publicly about him is that he is a CIA analyst who at one point was detailed to the White House and is now back working at the CIA.
But the name of a government official fitting that description — Eric Ciaramella — has been raised privately in impeachment depositions, according to officials with direct knowledge of the proceedings, as well as in at least one open hearing held by a House committee not involved in the impeachment inquiry. Fearing their anonymous witness could be exposed, Democrats this week blocked Republicans from asking more questions about him and intend to redact his name from all deposition transcripts…
Federal documents reveal that the 33-year-old Ciaramella, a registered Democrat held over from the Obama White House, previously worked with former Vice President Joe Biden and former CIA Director John Brennan, a vocal critic of Trump who helped initiate the Russia “collusion” investigation of the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.
Further, Ciaramella (pronounced char-a-MEL-ah) left his National Security Council posting in the White House’s West Wing in mid-2017 amid concerns about negative leaks to the media. He has since returned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
“He was accused of working against Trump and leaking against Trump,” said a former NSC official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.
Also, Ciaramella huddled for “guidance” with the staff of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, including former colleagues also held over from the Obama era whom Schiff’s office had recently recruited from the NSC. (Schiff is the lead prosecutor in the impeachment inquiry.)
And Ciaramella worked with a Democratic National Committee operative who dug up dirt on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election, inviting her into the White House for meetings, former White House colleagues said. The operative, Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-American who supported Hillary Clinton, led an effort to link the Republican campaign to the Russian government. “He knows her. He had her in the White House,” said one former co-worker, who requested anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.

The entire impeachment crap serves 1 main goal, and produces 2 secondary goals to ensure that main goal.
That main goal is to flat out, KNEE CAP the far left wing of the Democrat coalition...
If a perceived “moderate” loses to Trump the far left wing will just scream “SEE WE DIDN’T GO FAR ENOUGH LEFT”... And will continue to gain influence and sway in the party... If however, a far left candidate runs and they get demolished, that entire argument dies, and the party can moderate for the 2024 cycle when they actually will have a shot at the White House...
Think about it, why impeach? Particularly over Ukraine? A phone call where the transcripts are already out there? I mean, seriously the far left claims Trump has broke all sorts of laws and things, so why now, why over UKRAINE?
Why? Simple, because this will take out Binden... you can’t talk about Ukraine and corruption without the conversation and focus going onto the very swamp crap that the BIDENS represent and are full on part of.... This will ensure Biden is done.... and with Bernie and Pocohantas being the most likely to get the nod once Biden is dead... It will give them the far left candidate they need for their plan.
Secondary goal #1, pander to that far left base... Give them their “impeachment”.. So you satiate these fools... Won’t get rid of Trump in any way shape or for, but gives them what they want.
Secondary goal #2, by going forward with it, they motivate the Trump Base up to Defcon5 while at the same alienating the middle and moderates... ensuring whoever gets the D nomination, doesn’t just lose, but loses spectacularly......
So, we have taken a given loss by a moderate, and now turned it into an absolute shellacking of a radical leftist. The far left is KNEE CAPPED, by giving them exactly what they want... basically rope a dope the useful idiots... while at the same making them thing you have helped them out.
Trump isn’t going anywhere folks, other than to a 2nd term.
Once you realize this, you can sit back and enjoy your popcorn....
This impeachment crap is all about internal Democrat politics, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with Trump.

I’ve been running on the more mundane theory that the Left, utterly desperate in their completely unwinnable condition, are just looking for _anything_ they can throw at Trump to grind him down. Being desperate for a “silver bullet”, they’re dazzled by the prospect of “impeachement” being a magic word that, when applied successfully, will make Trump disappear.
You’re providing a more sophisticated/nuanced theory, whereby the Left vs Center factions (roughly labeled) are having an all-out war, and Nancy is brilliantly feeding AOC et al enough rope to hang themselves with. She’ll be damaged in the process, but that’s acceptable so long as she survives the political war.
Maybe Pelosi did learn something from the French Revolution: if not slaughtered, the far Left will be recursively slaughtered by even more extreme Leftists, screaming “liberty, equality, tolerance!” while eviscerating anyone ever-more-aligned with the most extreme of Leftists. Nancy is next on the chopping block if AOC, O’Rourke, Warren, et al aren’t stopped.
