In Howard County, a ‘courageous’ plan to redraw school boundaries ... diversity

In Howard County, people pride themselves on making everyone feel welcome. Bumper stickers say “Choose Civility.” The county’s pioneering newtown, Columbia, was founded on the premise that people of different races and economic status should live side by side.

Now, those convictions are being tested by a proposal that seeks to redistribute some 7,400 of the school system’s 58,000 children to different schools — in part to address socioeconomic segregation that leaves children from poor families concentrated in certain schools.

Signs like “No Forced Busing" and “Don’t Dismantle Communities” are appearing in protests in front of River Hill High School, where nearly everyone is affluent and very few are black or Hispanic. A Facebook page called “Howard County School Redistricting Opposition” has more than 1,900 members.

Liberals pulling a play out of the 1972 playbook.

Politicians are snubbing the electorate in favor of their pet projects.

Regardless of one’s political leanings, to force children to attend a school against the express wishes of the kids and their parents is tyranny.

Desegregation is like herding cats—a little irritating for the white cats as they run in all directions—and the stupid lefty “owner” never learns....

Always remember...maryland is THE Freak state. It is hopeless there. Escape that LIB hell-hole while you are still allowed to do so.

It isn’t as ridiculous as in the past (when white students were expected to enlighten darker classmates); now it is about MONEY. The ghettoes can’t afford basic services anymore, and they’ll farm out their under-20 populations to neighboring areas for “free” daycare and meals at white taxpayers’ expense.

Two reasons it will fail; whites will flee the targeted “affluent” areas (as they did decades ago when this experiment first fizzled), and there are simply less white children than ever. Buses filled with blacks will pass buses filled with Hispanics and Asians as they visit each others’ ‘hoods/barrios.

The wealthy part of Elijah Cummings district extended into Howard County, Maryland. Liberals galore.

You advise fleeing Maryland asap. I fled Illinois (a long-planned and -prepared-for flight), and others are streaming out of states ruined by Democrat misrule. The only surprise is that these states haven’t put in place some sort of exit tax. I wonder why not . . . Perhaps it’s too obviously unconstitutional? Not that the Constitution plays any role in our current mode of governance . . .

They should do an experiment. Bus the entire student body to a bad school, and bus the entire student body from a bad school to a good school. Keep everything else exactly the same. Then after a year, see if an achievement gap still exists. Also measure if improvements by the physical hand of the students and families have been made or if decay and grafitti was prominent

Liberals pulling a play out of the 1972 playbook.

Heck all their top Presidential candidates are octogenarians. Why not bring back policies from their “good ol’ days”?

Howard county has one of the highest median incomes of any court in America, but it is also one of the more costly places in America to live. School districts are highly sought out, ten years ago a friend was looking at houses in Ellicott City. the difference in relatively similarly designed two houses a block away from one another was $80,000, because one was in the desired Centennial school district and the other one was not.

There is a lot of money invested by the people of Columbia county in making sure their kids don’t go to the same school as their landscaper’s kids.

Perfect recipe for white flight.

In a couple of years the place will be 100% “diverse”.

Great video of what will happen.

When we escape maryland several years ago “monkey” county had a 3% tax on the sale of your property (on the sale price). On a $600,000 property that would be $18,000! They would “refund” it if you resettled somewhere in the county. We looked at it that it was worth $18,000 to get the **** out of that LIB-loser world. It was.

They are going to bus kids from better neighborhoods/schools to s**tier neighborhoods/schools.

You pay the price to live in a better neighborhood & school district and now they’re going to bus your kids to the ghetto.

That was awesome (and scary!) satire. Brave man to put the truth out there like that.
