I was fine when Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins refused to visit Obama’s White House when the Bruins won the Stanley Cup a few years ago, and I was impressed with the public statement he made about it at the time.

This guy Doolittle might be a leftist nitwit but on principle I’m fine with the way he’s gone about this.

I’m not. The Nationals and the Series really brought the District together - every day we saw on the local news Black, White, Hispanic, Old, Young, unified and happy together over this.

And then one narcissist has to throw his personal, subjective, political stink of divisiveness into it.

Why do politics have to be inserted into sports at all?

I despised Obama; but I would have gone to the White House, if I’d been on a championship team that was invited. When the President honors a team like this, he’s honoring on behalf of the entire country.
