If growing it for sale (real pot, not hemp) you have to conform to state rules and pay taxes at several steps along the way, along with lab testing for purity and safety (pesticide residue levels, etc.). That said, yes, cultivation for sale and rec. use are legal.

Back in the 70’s there was NC sheriff in the mountains who let weed growers alone if they paid a “tax” directly to him.
If a person had a weed patch and didn’t pay the “tax” they’d get raided as soon as he found out it.

it is if you don’t pay hundreds of thousands for a license that take months, if not years, to obtain ...
At the same time I knew of a sheriff in Mississippi that brought it in by plane.
Who cares what people grow?
“If a person has a weed patch”. We’ll if we had a quit “whatever” weed patch, we could get rid of liquor, nicotine, and all the rest of the bad habits. Similar to a quit smoking patch. I’d build a tacos and Cheetos stand.

Just a thought. If it is legal to grow your own supply...such as 6 plants in Colorado during the summer...then the stores and the taxes will not get done because the 6 plant person will have a years supply. The stores and therefore the taxes for the government will not happen. Therefore the sales of MJ may not happen as much during and after the harvest. MJ stock market prices may decline each year following the harvest.
