To repeat the question, how would a wall have helped IN THIS CASE?
I try not to let movies and tv be my source of knowledge but just recently there was a series where Mormon colonies/missions were being used by the cartels to transport drugs as they traveled back and forth. Almost had this very scenario if I remember right.

The Mormons in question have lived in this part of Mexico for a hundred years. Missionary trips they may take to other places are unrelated to what just happened to them here because they were at home.
These weren’t Americans traveling in Mexico.
These are Mexican Mormons who had anchor baby children.
Will we ever openly fight the Mexican drug cartels in Mexico? It seems like that is what needs to be done.

Recently reading local county atlas in Ohio, there is a reason the Mormon were moved on from communities. They were like muslims. a few would move in, make some converts and then the rest would move into the town and county and take it over economically/politically/culturally. Really pissed off the locals and then they would be run out of town. Happened again and again.
No doubt the cult had ties to Mexico, we’ll see if anything comes from the trial, but my faith in the American Justice system is uncertain.

Sorry but these people whether they called themselves Mexicans, Mexican Americans, World Citizens or whatever were a distinct alien group within an established endemic culture. They looked, acted and behaved differently than the native population. When this phenomena occurs anywhere, regardless of the religious, social or political motivation of the newcomers, there is more often than not eventual barbaric violence and massacres. Read history. There is also a large Hasidic settlement in Mexico. They too are in danger.
BTW do Mormons send their young people as missionaries into Muslim countries? One would hope not.
