Back in the spring, he was accused of deceiving viewers when he claimed, in his Netflix show Our Planet, that walruses were falling off Siberian clifftops as a result of climate change.
This was shown to be untrue by Canadian biologist and mammal expert Dr Susan Crockford, who described the abundant scientific literature, dating back many decades, showing that walruses have always taken to the land, and even fallen from clifftops. She also pointed out that the footage Attenborough used to make his case seemed to have come from a well-documented incident when walruses had been driven over cliffs by polar bears.
Yesterday, in his new BBC documentary Seven Worlds, One Planet, Attenborough again showed falling walruses, but this time making it quite clear that polar bears were driving them off the cliff. Remarkably, however, the footage he used appears to be from the same incident and shot by the same cameraman as shown in his Netflix documentary, despite the producers claims at the time that no bears had been in the vicinity.
Attenborough therefore seems to be tacitly admitting that the claims he made in the Netflix film, and the denials issued by the shows camera team and producers, were untrue.
It's a heartbreaking sight: walruses plummeting to their deaths from a high cliff, with hundreds of dead or severely injured walruses at the bottom having suffered the same fate. Producers of the acclaimed new Netflix documentary series "Our Planet" blame climate change...
All the lies these so called “conservationists” are telling make me want to go hunting spotted owl or polar bear or something.
How does a walruses get up a Cliff ? Sounds like joke ,LOL
Save the Walruses!! Feed activists to Polar Bears!!
Oh the humanity!
As God is my witness, I thought walruses could fly.
‘Producers of the acclaimed new Netflix documentary series “Our Planet” blame climate change...’
was climate change making so depressed they committed suicide...? if not, then why would atmospheric conditions drive a beast to certain death...?
“...polar bears were driving them off the cliff.”
Heh. Clever little bastages. No chase, AND they’re tenderized.
Everyone knows that polar bears cant drive!
my bad !
No, only turkeys.
But if they did, they'd drive a Nissan Leaf...
Falling Walruses would be a great name for a garage band.
David should be made to wear a walrus suit full of beetles and walk the crosswalks of Phoenix singing ... Coo Coo Ca Chew. I am not the Walrus
I watched that show. I used to enjoy Attenborough nature shows. Now I refuse to watch another. After that episode, I dumped it from my Netflix list and gave it a 1 star rating, as if Netflix cares. I have an old TV that still supports stars rather than the thumbs.
All his stuff is fake. Its a story they make up around footage that was bought. They just look at all the footage and write a story around it. Its all fake. But almost all TV animal shows are fake going back to Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, or those Wonderful World of Disney shows with Bears and Foxes. The only difference in today’s animal stories is that they have to add a climate change moral to the end of all the new ones.
And the endangered snail.
These are the same people that want the human population at 500 million. Who’s first of us unworthy to jump off the cliff?
Seems like every nature show these days must also be a commercial about climate change.
The libtards wreck everything they touch with their idol worship.
