As folks get older their brains shrink a bit. Minor trauma can tear small bridging veins that are stretched across the gap. The blood accumulates slowly producing a sub Dural hematoma which is almost always insidious. 2-3 weeks later the patient begins to have symptoms. Cognitive loss, paresis, etc. Recoveries are partial. Recurrences frequent.
