The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit's territory comprises the states of Connecticut, New York, and Vermont, and the court has appellate jurisdiction over the district courts in the following districts:
A stick in the eye of SDNY!!!
That’s going to smart a bit.
NY has been refusing blue slips on their district judges and they have 12 district vacancies - 9 of which are classified as emergencies.
NJ has 6 all of which are considered emergent.
California is the worst at 14 vacancies 13 rated emergent.
When the NY vacancies are filled Eastern District of New York will flip.
When the District of New Jersey vacancies are filled the district will flip.
In California filling the vacancies will flip Southern District of California. Central District of California will secure a broad republican majority with seating of Trump nominees in the vacant seats. Northern California will remain majority democrat appointed and Western California is tied with no vacancies.
In short NY State Liberals have more to look forward to as POTUS fills vacancies. The pressure of the open seats and resultant backlog will in the end lead to capitulation or to blue slips being symbolic rather than blocking nominees. With Eastern NY & NJ majority Republican appointed district judges the people of those states may see some sanity return.
