Recreational marijuana sales begin Dec. 1 in Michigan

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJMN) — Michigan marijuana businesses now have a date when legal sales of recreational marijuana will start.

According to The Michigan Regulatory Agency, recreational marijuana businesses can begin selling their products on Dec. 1.

However, some businesses may not be ready by then.

“As for us, we have gotten in our recreational license, however, it does not mean we’ll be ready on the first we’re still waiting to hear back from LARA, so when they process our paperwork we’ll know more, ” says Logan Stauber, owner of The Fire Station Provisioning Center.

The Michigan Regulatory Agency says current medical marijuana businesses can transfer up to half of their inventory to the recreational market, as long as the product has been in the facility’s inventory for at least 30 days.

” For the state of Michigan it’s huge, it’s a wonderful opportunity. And really the faster they get the store selling recreational marijuana the faster that they can collect tax revenue and alleviate the black market,” continues Stauber.

Meanwhile....

Michigan shouldn’t set legal limit for driving while high, commission says

I'd make it zero. You can drive. Or do weed. Not both.

I would lay odds that the Feds will legalize it during President Trump’s second term. It doesn’t make sense for so many states to have it legal but for the federal government to still have it illegal. In a very minor way it’s like slavery. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

His position on marijuana has always been pro-states-rights, but he's been low-key about it.

Absolutely agree!!

We would lose a few votes but gain more for a net gain.

One thing about that - it would be worth the price of admission to see the Dems scrambling over one another to oppose it.

Having lived through legalization in Washington for several years now... all I can say is that I am sorry for people who live in Michigan. Just like Michigan, we were very permissive here of marijuana for the past several decades, but legalization changed the situation for the worse in basically every way. Most heavy users still get it from the same illegal sources that they always have to avoid the taxes. Law enforcement mostly ignores the unlicensed dealers despite the loss of tax revenues. From my own observations usage is way... way up. When you are driving down most roads you have to turn your car to max air to recirculate what is already in your car or your car is filled with the heavy skunk like odor of marijuana from the cars ahead of you.

I’m in Michigan and it’s fine by me. Probably less harmful than alcohol, and apparently helpful for people who have certain medical issues.

I looked into medical certification and decided against it. My primary says he has a lot of patients who use it and claim that it helps, but he won’t prescribe it.

I have medical issues for which it might help. I don’t want to get in some sort of registry and risk the feds deciding someday they’re going to enforce the federal law (think Jeff Sessions). But If I can get it without having to do that I’m interested. I need help with my appetite and arthritic pain, so it’s worth a try, as far as I’m concerned.

Yep. I was wondering why states weren't legalizing pot by only decriminalizing possession. IOW, you can grow it yourself and have it in your home, but you still can't buy or sell it.

And then it hit me: they only want the tax revenue and to hell with anything else.

Potheads who get behind the wheel are killing people in my neck of the woods. But it’s harder than Hades to get a conviction and/or a harsh sentence because of the blood level issue.

At least with drunks, you’ve got a BAC to use. And the drunks know it.

Because that would put only the smallest of dents in cartel pot profits. Many people aren't in a position to grow their own, or simply want to get their product ready-to-use.

Ridiculous. They still have a HUGE black market in California and Colorado.

None of this is true.
