NEVER ENOUGH TIME
While I have only been an occasional visitor to Washington, I was struck by one scene so strongly that it remains as somewhat of a reference. My first view "up close and personal" of the Pentagon was neither awe-inspiring nor intimidating. To be sure, I was impressed with the size of the building, but that was about it. What came upon me, and has stayed with me, is the image of an ant farm. An enormous one, surely, but an ant farm nonetheless. So many passageways with so many ants constantly traveling them...seemingly endless streams of countless ants going and coming through the entrances. Since this view came on a grey, cold March morning, with barren trees and lingering winter, it seemed all the more depressing. I vowed then never to become one of those ants. I would not let myself be lost as one of the faceless, powerless, unknown minions of the "head ant" in the great farm. Not to mention the echo in my mind, that which is often considered a sarcastic oxymoron: "I'm from Washington, and I'm here to help." Yet something else echoes in my mind. From the Christian Scriptures, the words of the Apostle Paul to the people of Colossae, chapter 4, verse 23: "Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord . . ." For it is then I remember that no matter how small or insignificant my work may seem to me or even to others, I am powerful and effective. My faith reminds me that I am known and loved by my God. More than that, as I do the work, I allow His love to flow through me. And then the work, the worker, and the workplace are transformed into something sacred and beautiful because God is there. No longer dark, dreary, and cold, but bright, cheerful, and warm is the workplace because God's work is being done. No longer nameless, faceless, and powerless, but known, loved, and empowered is the worker doing God's work. The work itself then, too, is transformed into an opportunity to share God's love and joy with others as we struggle to bring peace to His world.

November 17Easily Entangled
Throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Hebrews 12:1
Soldiers fighting in a sweltering jungle many years ago encountered a frustrating problem. Without warning, a pervasive prickly vine would attach itself to the soldiers bodies and gear, causing them to be trapped. As they struggled to get free, even more of the plants tentacles entangled them. The soldiers dubbed the weed the wait-a-minute vine because, once entwined and unable to move forward, they were forced to shout out to other members of their team, Hey, wait a minute, Im stuck!
In a similar way, its hard for followers of Jesus to move forward when were ensnared by sin. Hebrews 12:1 tells us to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and run with perseverance. But how do we throw off the sin weighing us down?
Jesus is the only one who can free us from pervasive sin in our lives. May we learn to fix our eyes on Him, our Savior (12:2). Because the Son of God became fully human in every way, He knows what its like to be temptedyet not sin (2:1718; 4:15). Alone, we may be desperately entwined by our own sin, but God wants us to overcome temptation. Its not through our own strength, but His, that we can throw off entangling sin and run after His righteousness (1 Corinthians 10:13).
By: Cindy Hess Kasper
Reflect & Pray
What sin or sins have a strong hold on you? What can you do to gain freedom from the struggle youre experiencing?
Jesus, give me Your strength to overcome the sin in my life. Help me to trust in Your power rather than my own and lead me in the right path.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

We’ve got a little warming trend going on in Georgia...
I might come back out of hibernation.
At below about 50 degrees, I tend to become dormant.

Have you had a good weekend so far? Still enjoying nice weather?

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Well the heater is junk so, a friend loaned me a big diesel powered heater. Clean burning and big. I do add air too but have not beed affected or even smelt any fuel burning.
It’s been cold. Dropping to the teens tonight but warming to 40’s early next week.
I did find a couple heaters, just deciding on which one to install.
A friend also is giving me a 80,000 BTU furnace so I will have that Monday and need to hook it up.
