Yes sir and he should join us and very well may. I would bet he is one of the several Democrats that want to switch according to McCarthy who talked about this because of the impeachment farce.

In no way is Louisiana a harbinger of national politics.

In fact, Louisiana may be the exact opposite.

That is the key. Only Moderate Dems( and Obama ran as one) can win outside of the blue states.

John Bel Edwards is a conservative democrat, that’s why he won. He’s not “out there” like CA and other crazies.

Besides, it wasn’t like Trump even knew who the R candidate would be until a month ago. Incumbents have advantages.

Edwards won because he lies and says she’s a prolife and pro 2d amendment. Most people in LA are and that’s why it goes republican in National elections. I guess people in LA are to ignorant to google Edwards record. He’s never saw a tax he didn’t love. LA is a lot like Kentucky. They elect lying democrats las governor but a republican as president.

“Can someone explain this because I DO NOT get it...”

New Orleans has a lot of people and they vote Democrat.

Very conservative folks in S. Louisiana vote Democrat is state elections, especially for governor.

Louisiana is unlike any other state.

Simple....democrats offer better welfare package than republicans. Never under-estimate people who are either too lazy to work -or- are simply too incompetent to make a good living in a capitalist system. Democrats offer them a home!

Just got report of Edwards' victory on KSLA - Channel 12, Shreveport.

Not surprised. Risponi had all the attractiveness of a dead alligator...

Yes. People tend to forget that the ONLY dems who ever win ANYTHING in the deep south are blue dogs (or those who pretend to be). Once they tip their hands, they’re gone the first chance voters have (Mary Landrieu and Obamacare, anyone?) When you have a virtual unknown running against a known entity, who hasn’t been a foaming at the mouth liberal and has been fairly conservative on many social issues, the latter will win. Always. This is especially true if the other is more moderate (not sure where Rispone stands on some issues, but the general vibe I got from family was that Abraham was stronger on the social issues).

He’s a democrat and it’s impossible for a democrat to be pro life because he supports pro abortion politicians when they run for president. He’s a lying SOB. He’s also a tax and spend liberal of the first degree.

Thanks for the mention, but now I’m reading where Edwards may not be the more moderate guy folks have been describing him as.

I honestly don’t know. I was going by the party affiliation.

You see, I could not be a Democrat for love or money. I’ve watched their policies, and it would never happen. When someone else can use that title, it says a lot to me.

The Dems wouldn’t be smart to take it as a referendum on Trump, unless they’re prepared to run someone far to the right of any of their declared or undeclared candidates.

Your post made me think of lining up the declared and undeclared 'Rat candidates and Gov. Edwards. By comparison, Edwards looks pretty conservative. He is not in the "new normal" (i.e., psychotic) 'Rat mainstream. Evidently a slight majority of voters in LA are okay with that. Throw in the power of incumbency and a somewhat lackluster first-time opponent candidate with limited name recognition and you have a scenario for a close win.

What I don’t get is that the democrats are showing exactly what they are about...how can anyone vote for a party that’s determined to overthrown the U.S. ?

This, This, This and This. Exactly. I know my state. Dems have to govern carefully there. No out there craziness or they won’t win. Pretty sure BE is pro 2nd amdt.(though I may be wrong about that as he was elected after I left). He’s a taxer, but all Dems are. LA flops between blue and red with governors, but look at the map. Far more red than blue.

Don’t know if it’s too late already, but I’d feel much more confident if Reince Priebus was brought back to head the RNC.

Hard to have any faith in any relative of Mittens being in charge headed into 2020.

bigbob, this is NOW Alabama, Kentucky, AND Louisiana I think we ALL need to stop making excuses and realize we have BIG problems here, there is either massive voter fraud going on, demographics in this country is at the tipping point AND our side NEEDS to damn well make sure we are going to FIX IT or we are going to lose in 2020!!! This IS 3 VERY RED states and we LOST!!!

That does play in.

It’s why it’s so hard to change a Congressman or Senator.
