Well, this is the same state that elected Kathleen Blanco.
That said, I’d trust but verify.
Isn’t the message clear yet? President Trump’s supporters are mad as *ell about the limp support Republicans are providing for the President.
This was a win-win situation for conservatives because BE could easily switch to GOP. He was reelected because he was basically doing a good job and people are comfortable with him. He will not make a sudden lurch to the left as pearl clutchers and trolls rant on here. The GOP has super majorities in the LA Senate and House. The Walk Away movement is growing and we may see some switches as we saw in 1994.
Excluding Trump and his ilk, the GOP is like the minor league version of the democratic party but with less brains, less cohesion and a laissez-faire approach to governing.
The elections for governors in Kentucky and Louisiana suggest that Trump supporters aren’t mad as hell. At least not in enough numbers.
less ballz....the Democrats are brazen enough to be up front about socialism. The GOP is smarmy and underhanded about it
Ho hum...the state, along with Kentucky, might have a D governor but R are still in control...
How was the Republican campaign organization? As new to the game, he may not have known the ins and outs of establishing a good ground game.
Yeah...
I couldn’t walk away fast enough if I were a Democrat.
I’d have done it decades ago.
Aid and comfort?? What are you on about? No one’s giving “aid and comfort” to anyone. I’m clarifying what happens in the deep south when Blue Dogs get re-elected. The state is still red. It hasn’t flipped. Believe what you wish, but it’s not a referendum on Trump. This has been happening for eons: Dem governors, then Republican governors, then Dem governors, then back to Rep. Nothing new here, but feel free to clutch your pearls if it makes you feel better by all means.
The primary for the Republicans had two people running; split the vote. BE didn’t expect to have to face a run-off. And it was tight BECAUSE TRUMP showed up...or else I think BE would have carried it off. I think the voters were more comfortable with the guy who didn’t win the primary, but I wasn’t there so that may/may not be the case.
Amazing to me that so many posting on this thread have NO understanding of politics in the deep south, see a Dem win re-election, and start clutching their pearls and hyperventilating. Not referring to your post, but some here just don’t get that the rabid, wild-eyed hard leftists seen elsewhere in office are NOT what gets elected in the deep south.
If anything, the Republicans should be running candidates who are a clear difference from what is running. When Blue Dogs run, they look a LOT like the Republicans.
I understand what youre saying, but in todays environment that wont cut it anymore. You dont see it ever happen with liberals. They close ranks.
