Democrats can’t run as who they really are, they have to pretend to be Republican to win in the South and Flyover States. The winning margin was not that great, and you have to factor in the corruption in New Orleans and the fact that Rispone did not campaign very hard at all.
Edwards campaign mostly ran old ads of Abraham and Rispone attacking each other in the primary. That is the way Edwards won his first term — using ads of Republicans attacking Vitter. Also, some Republicans endorsed Edwards the first time. He bought them off.
He ran as who he really is. Those are his true positions and beliefs. He’s not a wacko radical liberal. People here know that. Rispone was a bad candidate. He had no real positions other than he likes Trump.
