I have no idea if it’s an automated feature, but I’d think that would be easy to do.

OCR technology has been around for quite a while, and google (and all the social media sites) index on embedded text.

Also note - machine learning can often detect objects in the pic. Including the apparent emotions of people in the pic.

All that metadata accompanies the stored indices of the online pic.

IOW, putting text in pic is not a good way to "hide" it.

Apologies if you already knew all this... ;)
