Sweden dropped a preliminary investigation Tuesday into an alleged rape by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Deputy Chief Prosecutor Eva-Marie Persson made the announcement as she gave an update on the Swedish case, saying the rape investigation has been discontinued because "the evidence has weakened considerably due to the long period of time that has elapsed since the events in question."
Persson said the alleged victim, who accused Assange of raping her in 2010, "submitted a credible and reliable version of events."

I agree.
If an investigation was done, all the evidence they could collect was, I’m sure, well documented. Even DNA evidence could have been processed and documented.
Thats a weak excuse for something else going on.
The most obvious answer, to me, is that it was never a real case to start with, and was created due to geopolitical pressure.

Yep, I just finished reading Lee Smith's book "The Plot Against the President" and from that it appears much of the results of the investigation into the spying, etc., on Trump is "classified" or "embarrassing" to our "allies." Apparently, what we've heard from Reps Nunes and Jordan and a small number of media figures is just the tip-of-the-iceberg.
The US is seeking a 175-year prison sentence. Sweden has to date failed to give assurances it will block Mr Assange’s US extradition.
