One of Wall Street’s most intrepid bond investors has turned defensive.
Michael Hasenstab built an almost $200 billion government-bond franchise for Franklin Templeton Investments by making large, profitable bets in risky countries. But that strategy backfired badly for the star fund manager in 2019 when a bet on the Argentine peso soured, saddling investors with losses.

Maybe this ‘Us Against Them” mentality was generalized to include the Ukraine. We were just then stepping deep into the Cold War way of thinking. I’m glad that’s over. I’ve met a few Ukrainians in the Bay Area. Good workers. Good capitalists.
followed sputnik in 7th grade science. back in the day ukraine was perceived more as a province of russia than a once-sovereign state. never had longterm stable boundaries with various parts being governed by germany, poland, russia, and austria (austro-hugarian empire).

The Democrats were lured into a trap and took the bait hook, line and sinker.
The hook is set and they are about to get reeled in.
There is a reason that President Trump published a transcript of first call with Zelensky and.then made such a big deal about it .
This was perplexing to many because it really didn't say much of anything other than polite congratulations on victory so what was the big deal?
The big deal was not what was said on the first call, the big deal was what was not said on the first call.
It was quietly reported earlier that the investigation of Burisma and the Bidens was started long before the July 25 call to Ukraine. The investigation has been underway at least as far back as March and probably even before Zelensky was elected in March.
Comments have also been made that the investigation by Ukraine never ended in the first place.
Biden may have managed to get the prosecutor fired, but the investigation was never closed and it seems to actually have continued, possibly to give the corrupt Ukraine government at the time blackmail ammunition for leverage against the Obama Administration and Joe Biden.
The same Joe Biden who has bragged that Ukraine was his show and that he was number one point man who controlled Ukraine foreign policy as VP
Who better for the Ukraine to have a blackmail file than Quid Pro Joe.
At any rate, it is impossible for President Trump to have bribed or extorted Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and Burisma was already underway long before the July call.
In fact, it is almost a certainty that when President Trump said in the July call that he had heard reports about Ukraine corruption the reports he had heard had been coming from Ukraine itself as part of the Ukrainians ongoing investigation
In fact, Ukrainians tried to travel to the United States to inform US DOJ and FBI officials of the results they had uncovered but were denied Visas by Obama holdovers and given the run around by members of US diplomatic corps in Ukraine trying to cover up.
The Schiff is about to hit the fan and there is no way the media can flush this investigation down the memory hole with impeachment in full swing .

Ukrainian members of parliament have demanded the presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, investigate suspicions of the legalization of $7.4 billion by the “family” of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych through the American investment fund Franklin Templeton Investments, which they said has ties to the U.S. Democratic Party.

We’ve all known about this. We’ve all been trying, desperately, to get our hands in that cookie jar. For those of us who haven’t, we demand an investigation to get rid of the old guard that has gotten rich off of this corruption that has been going on for years. For those that have, we demand an investigation and have information on much more powerful folks, that we’ll present to make a deal and get off. And I’ll be allowed to keep the money. Because in the US, you protest, break some windows, maybe light a few cars on fire. In the Ukraine, there’s a damn good chance I’ll be taken out of my home or office and dragged through the streets.
If this is true and they want a legitimate investigation, that could result in folks in prison jumpsuits(which I have no doubt that many members of Congress should be some), that some of them are in DC, NoVa, & NYC, figuring out how to hide/protect their money and if they can actually jump off the roof, shoot themselves or overdose. They all thought they’d never get caught.
Be careful what you wish for Pelosi, Schiff, et al, you just might get it.
