Kamala Harris has been accused of adopting a southern drawl last night when discussing how the Democratic party had taken the black vote for granted.
The Senator was asked about her recent criticism of Pete Buttigieg's approach to African-American voters at the debate in Georgia.
Harris replied that candidates had been taking for granted 'the backbone of the Democratic Party ... they show up when it's, you know, close to election time and show up in a black church and want to get the vote.'
Viewers claimed her accent changed during the speech. Julie Stewart tweeted: 'Why does she speak with a Southern accent? Wasn't she a lifelong Bay Area resident?'

Actually no.
She was raised in Montreal for all of her school years. Came back to the US to go to Howard in Washington DC, where she could really hone her Hatin’ Whitey attitudes.
She’s an AINO - American In Name Only. Her “citizenship” is an accident of geography: just where her itinerant parents happened to be at the moment of her birth. They were on student visas at the time, so were expected to leave. Similar to the terrorist Hamdan, who claimed to be an American when he was born in Louisiana where his parents were students.

Trying to think and act like others is a way to try and gain rapport, which makes it easier for a person to gain trust and make other people feel more comfortable.

Although, she was bused to school, while still in America.
Reminds me, I never got my “that little girl was me” T shirt from her campaign. I wonder if they are still available? I always wanted a picture of the young scowling Kamala.
