The Brits, going back to almost Julius Caesar, have always been ruled by Royals, until Cromwell, who took over, cancelled Christmas and was then Replace by James II, who had far less power than he father.

The BRF have basically been nothing more than figureheads and tourist attractions since before Queen Victoria was born.

The PEERS are Aristos who are in the upper House...the House of Lords. The lower House is run by elected officials, some of whom have been/are also Aristos, such as Winston Churchill and his father.

Combined, the House of Lords and the lower Hose form the Parliament and it is THEY who make laws and rule the UK!

Oliver Cromwell was first replaced by his son, and then Oliver Cromwell’s son was replaced by Charles II. James II came after Charles II.
