Also I think it’s reasonable to want an official order from POTUS on this matter. I have no problem with Trump’s tweet but the military have procedures that really should be followed.

It would be sweet if the Pres. ignored the denial and tweeted what a good idea resignation is and it’d be happily accepted.
I don’t know beans about military etiquette but imo one shouldn’t make private disagreement with one’s superior into a public disagreement. Disrespectful. Sets a very bad example.

I don’t remember Officers being required to present written orders to anyone under them when they gave them an order.
I think if I had tried this when the orderly room clerk relayed an order from the company commander, I would have been in LBJ.

This is the rare sort of thing that drives me nuts about Trump.
There have been a few of these stories in recent years where a senior administration official was taken to task for ignoring a directive from the President on some matter or another, and the responses of the officials were always the same: "I never received any such directive from the President or anyone else on that matter."
This is the kind of juvenile sh!t that really hurts the President's credibility as a serious leader.

Why don’t these idiots do us all a favor and close that place down or WHY DON’T we stop posting their articles? If they don’t get the publicity and the attention, maybe they will just vanish! It has to stop somewhere and it’s sure not going to stop with the liars!
Ya know, orders can be made verbally, with no correct or “right” syntax other than the words “This is an order.”
They can also be made on a typewriter and hand delivered or mailed. They can be sent electronically via email or even by telegraph.
For the Sec Nav or any military brass to ignore an order via Tweet because it is a tweet is ridiculous.
They are willingfully opposing the CinC and for that they should be fired on the spot.
