Any response he makes could be taken out of context or twisted. His nuisance could be Trump’s headache, and he might not have wanted to risk putting his boss in a jam. Not backing down did not work so well for Corey Lewandowski.

I understand your point, but DC is deep in the heart of Injun country. In 2016 DC went for Hillary 91% to 4% for Trump. Odds are Cuccinelli would have no one to watch his back.
