I've been maxing out my 401K for 25 years because they all tell you that's the smart thing to do. And it is. But that assumes the government never just takes it. And I believe eventually they will. I hope it's after I no longer need it, or I have enough that I can survive their confiscation of a giant portion of it. But I know that eventually all this tax deferred money will look just too appealing to them to just leave there for us to have.

Of course they won't say they are just taking it, that would be a pitchforks and torches moment. They'll lie, say it's a tax on fat cat bankers and hope that by they time we notice that we're the fat cat bankers in this scenario it will be too late for us to do anything. And so it's beginning.

A 5%+ inflation rate would solve a lot of problems for the political class.
