I’ve never understood why political candidates try to pretend they are something they are not. It makes them look silly (at best). I can’t imagine doing something like that. For one thing I don’t hunt. My politics are a tad to the right, and I have a certain affinity for firearms, but I’m a city boy. The thought of me traipsing around the wilderness wearing camo with a shotgun acting like this is how I put meat on my dinner table is laughable. I have nothing against hunting. But it’s not part of how I was raised or my lifestyle. I get my meat from the butcher’s shop or the meat section in the supermarket and pretending otherwise in order to garner votes would just mark me out as a fraud. It would be like the guys from Duck Dynasty showing up at Sparks steak house in Manhattan, clean shaven and dressed in three piece suits with gold watch chains and homburg hats.

I don’t expect someone I’m voting for to be everything to everybody. You’d never see DJT doing something like that. He’d look like a fool and it would be undignified. People should just be who they are and let the voters decide on that basis.

Not knowing a lot about Indiana politics I'm willing to assume that you're correct. But I do know Massachusetts politics and I can guarantee that if he's the Rat Party nominee he'll carry this state 70%-25%.

Funny...I always thought of it as being,first and foremost,about being equipped to resist a tyrannical government. Even Hubert Humphrey said that at least once in the 1960s...goggle it,you'll find it.

I remember seeing pictures of the hundreds of deer hunters in the late 50’s crossing the Mackinac bridge. They all had determined looks on their faces. Those “real” men would have keelhauled this POS under the bridge just for sport. Some of those early Michigan deer racks are legendary.

It aint just about putting food on the table- it’s also about being out in nature, enjoying God’s creation, and getting away from life in the hectic world- Some seasons i didn’t get a deer but i didn’t care- I just loved being out in nature and witnessing a bunch of cool nature stuff like porcupines in natural habitat, unafraid of my presence, tons of birds and their funny antics, squirrels busying themselves for winter- foxes, coyotes etc- all in their natural habitat- going about their business surviving- The sun beating down on your face in a sunny spot coming through the canopy- warming you on a cool fall day- The Smell of earth- life- the leaves falling around you- insects scurrying to prepare for winter- cool water bubbling up out of an underground spring-

There’s a lot to like about hunting- most of it has nothing to do with putting food on the table-

Huh? Hunting is now undignified? Many people enjoy it- rich folks, poor folks, etc- people from all walks of life hunt in my neck of the woods-

Of course it’s doubtful pete does any of that and this is just a publicity stunt to him- trying to get moderate votes-

Last year, I field dressed a deer at 14 degrees in a high wind. It's amazing how fast you can clean a deer when you've got that kind of incentive. A fox took the heart and the liver while I was standing right there; she must have been cold and hungry too, even in her fur coat.

Ha ha ha...I know your pain. Great post. Happy for the fox. FWIW, hunters here in Mi have donated a record amount of venison to the food banks this year. They spurred me on into shopping for the other food needed in fact..going to a fill the patrol car donation party tomorrow.
