Personally, I think Juan is simply paid to be the “leftist antagonist”. He can’t really believe some of the nonsense he’s spouting. It probably pays pretty well.
I just discovered “The five” on youtube about six months ago. I didn’t even know who Juan was before that. I honestly just see him as a form of method actor and don’t take him seriously at all. He’s even kinda fun sometimes, especially when he’s forced to support the unsupportable.
