I was tremendously privileged today to accompany USS Arizona survivor and PBY bomber pilot Lt.Cdr. Lou Conter (Ret.), along with about 30 family and friends, on a private tour of the Arizona Memorial. Mr. Conter, 98, is the only one of three remaining Arizona survivors able to travel to Pearl Harbor for the 78th anniversary observances on the 7th. This American hero, shot down twice, went on to a 35 year career in the Navy. As kindly a gentleman as one could meet, within this man is the heart of a lion. For his Eagle Scout project my son made a documentary about this great American. The link to the video on YouTube is above. REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR!

I assume it has been repaired? Or was this a special trip for the anniversary and survivor?

It has been repaired. This private tour has been offered every year to survivors, their families and friends though again only Mr Conter was able to make it this year. Here he is visiting a couple admiring sailors at the memorial.

Visitors were invited to make the customary tribute of casting flower petals into the harbor from the memorial. Here petals overlay some of the oil that still leaks continuously from the ship, 78 years later.

Thanks for posting. America is in trouble without these guys. Hubby n I dreamed of seeing the USS AZ.. but we won’t make it.
Seeing the movie Midway was amazing.
Imagine a generation without fancy college degrees going toe to toe with the world and winning.
Will there ever be another greatest generation of men, b@llls out and kicking azz?

Thanks friend. Private tour of nuclear submarine USN North Carolina. That there are still young men among us like those I met today gives me
Hope.

This is an outstanding documentary. I hope that the media can find some time to remember Pearl Harbor tomorrow.
