President Trump demanded a trial in the Senate. I think the Senate will have a trial. Not sure that is a wise ideal.
I also think the Democrats know what they are doing, they have things timed and they might have hidden - Rinos and blackmail senators on board.
Maybe the Democrats want this dead on arrival to leave a cloud over the President’s head.

Leaving a cloud over his head must be their goal. They hope to remove him him from office and make him ineligible for reelection but know that won’t happen so their only hope is to leave a mark they will argue later as illegitimizing him to try to block judicial appointments. We have to focus on taking the House back or the next four years will be repeated impeachments.
