The courts are the number one reason to fight like hell to get Trump another 4 years. He has been making solid, conservative appointments, with almost all being Federalist Society members. Four more years will see all of the Circuit Courts using the US Constitution as their guiding principal. It will also mean SCOTUS will be at least 5-3 conservative, with Roberts’ squishy swing vote rarely needed.
... part of a steady drive by Republicans to remake the federal bench with conservative (aka normal) jurists.
Im tired of seeing Trump-nominations described as conservatives. Maybe they are, maybe not. They should be described as constitutionists.
Sounds like an accurate description of the puny pipsqueak, obama.
From the article: Bumatay is openly gay, and during testimony to the Senate Judicial Committee he introduced his husband, with whom he is raising twin daughters.
That's what I've been wondering. Where the heck is she?
There is legislation waiting in both House and Senate Judicial committees to do exactly that and more:
1...Split the 9th
2...Appoint a new judicial circuit to oversee all others
3...Mandate annual physical checks of judges.
The federal courts of appeal have regularly expanded in number and split in response to new states and territories being added to the Union as well as population growth. There are currently 12 regional circuits in addition to the Federal Circuit. The Ninth Circuit is the largest circuit in caseload, population, and geography.
The CIRCUIT Act would implement the 1998 White Commissions recommendation to create three regional divisions within the Ninth Circuit in order to improve judicial efficiency. The divisions would include a Northern Division, comprised of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington, a Middle Division comprised of the existing Northern and Eastern Districts of California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, and the Northern Marianas, a Southern Division comprised of Arizona and the existing Central and Southern Districts of California, and a Circuit Division which would hear certain cases including where two or more Divisions have reached final decisions of law that conflict.
ha! medical checkups, eh?
you wouldn’t have any current effective cadavers in mind, would you (like on the Supremes)?
smile smile
an interesting idea....
“.Mandate annual physical checks of judges.”
Put them to the same standard the FAA uses for pilots.
Perfect vote!
Ideally, we never want any candidate who musters more than 2-3 communist votes...
On the paranoia scale (for the communist vote):
Why have the leftists not fought this harder?
ping
The icing on the cake is that he's a Federalist Society member.
The author hates Trump, but gives him credit where it is due.
Last paragraph:
The truth is, by worshipping at the altar of Trump, Republicans havent simply ensured conservative dominance of one branch of government. They may have entrenched conservative governance for decades.Winning, winning, winning.

The Bill passed out of committee on 9/13/18 but has not been brought up by the house. It would appear Pelosi has tabled it and it does not show up in the 116th Congress session (current session).

Following law school, Bumatay clerked for the Honorable Timothy Tymkovich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. After clerking, Bumatay joined Department of Justice as a political appointee first in the Office of Legal Policy, where he worked on the confirmations of Chief Justice John Roberts, associate Justice Samuel Alito, and former attorney general Michael Mukasey and later in the Office of the Associate Attorney General, where he assisted in the oversight of criminal and civil matters in the Antitrust, Tax, Civil, Civil Rights, and Environmental & Natural Resources Divisions.
In 2012, Bumatay joined the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Southern District of California, his current post, where he is a federal prosecutor in the Criminal Enterprises and Narcotics sections. Bumatay has participated as lead counsel or second chair in at least nine bench and jury trials. He has also argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2017, Bumatay was detailed to the Office of the Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice, where he worked on national opioid strategy and prison and reentry policies.
In 2018, he moved to the Office of the Attorney General, advising the attorney general on criminal matters, national opioid strategy, transnational organized crime, and prison and reentry policies. In that role, Bumatay assisted in the management of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives, and Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces. He also supported the confirmations of Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. Bumatay returned to the U.S. Attorneys Office in San Diego earlier this year.
Bumatay has been an active member of The Federalist Society since law school.
I don’t really care if he is a homosexual. I care that he is a conservative, constitutionalist and he has extensive experience.
And how will he rule when another cake maker is sued for not baking a cake for a gay wedding?
