On some show yesterday Brit Hume went on about how impeachment was bad for the Dems it was bad for trump as after Clinton was impeached he lost support.

Meanwhile Clinton was re elected but that’s a different disgusting story.

No brit. Clinton lost support after he had an affair - and in the Oval Office- our Oval Office- with a 24 year okd- a volunteer employee - and then lied about it not only to the people and the press but to a jury. Under oath

He was a lawyer who was disbarred for this for lying under oath

Trump did nothing wrong

What’s wrong wit Brit Hume? This seemed crazy. Like he was living in a world twenty years off but also illogical

One day, it will be widely observed that it was a ridiculous time in American history when Donald Trump was (sort of) impeached and neither of his predecessors were.

The bar was set fairly low with Clinton too, as odious as the man’s conduct may have been, having consensual sex is hardly a rare occurrence for powerful men in politics. I know there were other factors in play there.

But if you wanted to impeach any president, there would probably be some case available.

The idea that these Democrats are somehow on a higher moral or ethical plane and have any legitimate reason to impeach the president is shown to be absurd. It is their crop of presidential nominees, past present and future who need to be reviewed. Perhaps the voters can handle that task.

Clinton was impeached during his second term, not his first.

“What’s wrong wit Brit Hume?”

I think the point he was making was that while everyone attributes Clinton’s re-election victory to blowback against Republicans over the impeachment, it really had more to do with a good economy.

In other words, recent improvement in Trump’s re-election prospects may have more to do with good jobs reports than with the Democrats’ embarrassing impeachment antics.

Personally, I think it’s both. The Democrats are indeed helping Trump, but a significant economic downturn this summer would be devastating, with or without impeachment.
